New Letitia James development — former NY prosecutor says he is retaining internal records
There is one genuinely new quasi-legal development involving Letitia James.
On October 5, former New York Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld sent James and her general counsel an email stating that he will not return internal materials that the Attorney General's office says are confidential and privileged. Wiesenfeld says the records support his earlier allegation that personnel in James's office improperly targeted President Trump and Trump-affiliated entities.
This moves the matter beyond Wiesenfeld's August accusation. According to the new report, James's office has been seeking return of the materials, while Wiesenfeld is deliberately retaining them and asserting that they constitute evidence of political corruption.
