WHY ARE MILLIONS OF SENIORS GETTING A $90 GOVERNMENT DEPOSIT?
Millions of Americans are seeing an unexpected $90 deposit in their bank accounts labeled something similar to “SSA TREAS 310 XXSOC SEC.”
It is real.
President Trump announced on October 2 that eligible Medicare recipients would receive a one-time $90 Medicare Part B premium rebate this month. CMS says approximately 20.8 million Americans are eligible, with most direct deposits arriving around October 8, 2026.
WHERE DID THE MONEY COME FROM?
The money comes from something called the Medicare Improvement Fund.
Congress created the fund in 2008 specifically to allow the federal government to make improvements to Original Medicare Parts A and B. Over the years Congress repeatedly changed the amount available in the fund—sometimes adding money and sometimes using it as an offset for other legislation.
