So I was watching Home Improvements today and it went to a commercial. It was some drug ad. I don't remember what it was, some goofy drug no one really needs I'm sure... Anyway, the ad said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Sometimes you feel like you are a million miles away". That got me thinking. How far can you be away from something while on earth, for I was absolutely sure you can't be a million miles away from something.

So looking it up I found; The farthest distance you can be from another point on Earth is approximately 12,541 miles (20,039 kilometers). This distance occurs when you are on opposite sides of the planet, such as from Quito, Ecuador to a point in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar.
