History of recent you’ll remember!
The Buddhist statues in Afghanistan, the Bamiyan Buddhas, were destroyed by the Taliban in March 2001. Mullah Omar ordered their destruction on February 26th, and the demolition began on March 2nd. It took several weeks, involving artillery, rockets, and explosives, with the final explosions confirmed around March 19th. (Grok)
