I am not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV. But I am exposed to college aged kids around the local golf coarse near me (public golf coarse owned by the college). These college guys are good respectable kids, but they do like to talk about their college environment. The majority of these guys are conservative raised just trying to get through a far left college environment. For some reason, leftist soy boys don't seem to golf. So... These guys tend to want to talk to someone with views similar to their own. They find me interesting because I'm an old fart boomer. But I'm digressing...
Anyway. When waiting in the clubhouse or practice putting green, you get to know folks that you see regularly. These guys make claims that college kids will do just about anything to get high. Even implied using house hold cleaning products for a high of some kind. Perhaps that's where eating tide pods came from? So you think college kids are intelligent? Nope. Some are, many are not. If they find a product that is NOT CONTROLLED that they can get high on, you can almost guarantee there will be some douche pickle that will have a container of the product to pass around at parties.
Anyway, they bring up kratom as something that seems to be all over the place that may be in large amounts, will give you an odd high. Yes, I would be willing to bet it is all over the school, and maybe even laced with something else.
Parties are a major issue at this college. A few years back a LARGE prostitution bust was made, finding many of the cheer leaders selling themselves for cash at these parties. Underage drinking is a problem, and slum lords take over older neighborhoods creating large pockets of unethical and immoral college life where families once lived. Two or three single family homes in a row with 6 or more college people in each home, creating large multi home parties so horrid that it takes hours for the police to clear out during midnight hours. Entire neighborhoods move out only to be filled by these filthy messy kids that leave their beer cans in the yard, so hard on the homes that between school years, the slum lords have to gut and rebuild the insides of these homes. It's Horrible, and the college turns their back on it like it's not happening.
So, much of these occasional deaths at college parties may very well be self inflected.
